Tracing a sewing pattern is an important step to transfer the pattern pieces onto the fabric before cutting them out. Tracing paper is the essential tool for this; it allows you to transfer the pieces from your paper pattern to your fabric along with the markings, darts, notches, etc. Once you have traced all the pattern pieces onto the fabric, use scissors to cut out the pieces along the traced lines.
